Kate, most of them aren't going home. Most will keep working to support their families at wages and under conditions that match their desperation. Employers will hire them to save money. Agriculture, construction, yard maintenance, food production and preparation, all are perennial employers of illegals.

Immigration officials do not have the resources to change that, period.

So which is better, a legalized program or pretending that some tough guys can make it all go away? Fact or fantasy?

Not to mention that once you decriminalize most of the problem, we can focus our enforcement on what remains illegal.

Like we should do with drugs but we are too politically stupid and immature to go that far. Duh. The War on Drugs is such a better alternative. Stunning track record, just like our border enforcement.
