I think the Republican (and the Democrats) should a be strict about pay-go. You'll notice that I often am critical of actions taken by the Republicans in the past - I would rather discuss ideas than just feel an obligation to cheer for the home team regardless of what they do or say.

So, pay-go was an good idea in the past and a good idea in the present. I'm sure people in Illinois have some thoughts on pay-go.

If the Republicans were back in power, I would not make an argument that they should do certain things just because Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid did them. Therefore, I'm not sympathetic to an argument that it is fine for the Democrats to do something that may not be a good idea because it was done in the past. That is just politics as usual and I thought the aim was for something better than that.
