Kev:

I hate to tie up the thread with idle chatter, but I'm kinda on hold til noon and more than likely til the bond market closes at 3 pm EST so what the heck........ laughing bout the Young WhiS and recalling that she has confessed to being rather small in stature, or at least in height (stature denoting three dimensions and I promise I'm not venturing with NO comments for NO reason on NO subject but height) put me into mind of a story from long ago and far away.........

Was talking to an old friend and ex employee (ret) last week.
Working in my family business was the only private sector job he ever held.
He was a rather large gentleman.
My dad had hired him when he had gotten out of the Navy after the Korean Konflict.
He had gone into the service straight out of high school where he had played defensive line on the football team.
When he came to work for my dad, he was 6'-2" and weighed bout 275.
Back in the early 50s that was pretty good size.
He got up to 450 while working for me---at that point I could no longer grab him from behind and pick him up......gggg
He told me a story bout the worst whipping he ever saw anyone get.
Seem like one of his buds included a cooks mate who had access to the torpedo fuel supply and had been a Chem E major before being drafted.... so they had a goodly liquid stash of "pink lady" as they called it----180 proof.
This story includes poker and booze and whuppin.

During said poker game , a gunners mate of rather small stature accused a rather larger bosun of cheating.
There was over a foot in height and a hundred or hundred and a half pounds of difference between the two.
The little gunners mate beat the bosun so badly bout the head and shoulders that a formal report had to be filed from sick bay and given to the Captain. Official verdict----falling down a gangway, accident.
The little guy and the big guy were drunk, as was the rest of the group playing and watching....there was no actual cheating involved.......just the incorrect assumption and " proof " induced misjudgement.
The little guy would jump into the air and hit the big guy in the nose and back pedal out of harms way. Jump up and hit the bigun again and back up. As the story was told to me, twenty or thirty blows were struck during the "fight"----the total of which the little guy absorbed were NONE....the total inflicted were ALL. The fight would have been over immediately had he taken one hit from the bosun.
My friend was the big bosun.
He said he had never been hit and hurt and cut up so badly in his life.
Told me he learned that fast and good beat big and good.

Moral of this long winded tale-----

We got to be the little guys in this fight cause that's what we are compared to the fund managers and BIG investors who trade 100k and 500k shares readily as we trade 1k or 2k.
We've got to hit and back pedal.
We've got to keep from gettin hit.
If we stay nimble and quick and fast we can come out victorious and unblemished.

Regards----Father Time
