Re: Long term future for Israel.

Some possibilities for a positive outcome -

1) Any effective replacement for Mideast oil (Brazilian and West African oil, nuclear, solar, electric cars) could serious reduce the threat by reducing funding of the oil states.

2) The second way would be a big shooting war between/among the Arabs / Iranians / Turks. That would buy time for 1) to occur.

3) Effective Russian alliance with Israel vs. all the states they both have problems with. Many Russians in Israel.

4) Much of the non-muslim world gets sufficiently provoked that they collectively move to a cold to warm war against the aggressive states. I expect Indonesia, Malaysia, Morroco, Algeria and some others will not be targets, but the core states.
This is already occurring with the Somali pirates.
A few more Taj hotel incidents could trigger this.

5) Way outside chance - Some kind of cultural event that changes Islam and or Arab nationalism.

Geert Wilders sees Israel as the front line of the West.

Scroll down a little to the speech at the Four Seasons.
