Taro, I regard Obama receiving the Nobel Peace Prize as a mistake by the prize committee. They thought Obama would end our wars.

But, in another way, that prize was for us, the voters that elected Obama. We elected a black president, in a country that was one of the last to give up slavery, where blacks are still subject to some discrimination, at least a decade before anyone really thought that was possible.

Just electing a black president will have an enormous global impact. Every young black American can now legitimately aspire to the presidency. My country, more than any other on the planet, is a land of EQUAL opportunity, putting the pressure on other countries worldwide.

Yes, we CAN!
