no arguement about about the slot thingy whatsoever but the assumption that they are NOT qualified is not borne out by their success- when I made the statement the great equalizer comment it was in reference to that- you see the 4.0's from Harvard or where ever had No advantage once they got in and neither do blacks per se- getting in is an issue that's why they have an entrance exam and minimal stds and oddly enough who u know still works, esp alums of those sponsered by alums- the really smart folks dont even bother with medicine- back in the day i had some noble idea about helping folks and I still hold those same values but it has become increasingly burdensome and basically for little other than satisfaction knowing i've tried to help someone during their illness, it now cost more out of my pocket to do so and when i cross below break even i'm done-

I can tell you this, no one in their right mind would chose medicine with it's current direction, we have no say in pay
reimbursement, the friggen plumbers make more than we do and automechanics and they can and do unionize to try and get a better wage shake, i'm not a union person per se but I would like to be able to set rates, my office visits have been reimbursed at the same rate for the past 9 yrs no raise no inflation adjustment and no one to discuss it with- you see insurance companies dictate everything about what u get paid for what- the only option is to opt out completely and go cash only, try that getting out of med school. the hospitals and ins cos rule- and dont get me started on the electronic record BS scam-
