Thanks for an interesting read.

But doesn't it make more sense for the president to at least fight as hard as possible and take his case to Congress and the public, putting the onus on conservatives for standing in the way of a stronger economy?

I'm going to argue both sides here; Maureen Dowd argued this weekend that people need to stand by their beliefs - so in that vein Obama needs to stick with what he believes. Nothing worse than leading an agenda you don't believe in. However, that being said, I think Calmes remembers what he wants to about the Clinton years. Clinton shrank the government and reduced military spending. Sooooo, is there something to learn here? Whenever has the economy been stronger than under Clinton? That strength in the economy was real - unlike the "pretend put it on the credit card" of the last Bush administration huh?
