Yeah, I agree "sticking Genworth funds in the portfolio doesn't sound like something Bob would choose to do." But as long as he was advertising them as a partner, whatever they were doing had his name attached to it. It was HIS duty to see if those using his name were acting ethically.

It bugs me because I've had opportunities to lend my name, and some went so far as to steal it, to generate commissions to gather money for others. I try to be as ethical as possible and have said no to several very lucrative opportunities to gather assets...

I also see it as a pattern of abandonment when something goes bad where those who trusted Brinker are left on their own. I saw it in the 1990s with his advice to buy UTEK then telling me (as don lane here) to remove the question on the SUite101 board I moderated accusing him of being compensated by UTEK to recommend the stock. I thought the charge was nuts at the time and was really shocked Brinker got upset with ME rather than answer the charge. My thinking of Brinker as helping the small investor changed 180 degrees on that day. Later I learned he was compensated by UTEK... maybe not directly for pumping their stock, but who cares?

What amazes me is some here don't get upset with the roaches until they fill the room while most suspect trouble at the first sign of roaches.
