Paul. it appears that you have been a victim of Corel's marketing savy. Corel does not at all outselling Microsoft in the Office wars. Corel recently surpassed Microsoft in RETAIL sales. Lets keep in mind that Corel pushes most of it's products via channel/retail distribution. However the real money is in Corporate and Government sales. An area where Corel can't even compare with Microsoft. Recently here in the Ottawa area, a number of municiple governments including the city of Ottawa (where Corel is located) decided to use Microsofts Office suite in part because of it's compatibility with existing products and Microsoft's excellent product support. The Canadian Department of National Defence (One of Canada's largest government departments) also decided to go with Microsoft Office in a deal worth millions. I think this speaks volumes about the package. If the city of Ottawa or the Canadian government chooses Microsoft Office over Corel then why won't most other governments. Corel has almost depleted it's cash reserves which it has blown on marketing the suite package. Microsoft in the meantime has been sitting back just waiting until Corel has blown thier marketing budget before it begins it's own marketing campaign in the fall. I would wait until Microsoft counters before suggesting Corel has a chance. Lets not forget that there are very few companies that can go up against Microsoft and come out still standing. For example, the only reason why Netscape is faring well against Microsoft is because Netscape came out with a browser product before Microsoft did.
