Hard Drive Prices In Taiwan Reportedly Fall 10%-20% In Q2
By Eric Savitz
blogs.barrons.com

Prices for hard-disk drives in Taiwan were down 10%-20% at the end of June from the beginning of the quarter, according to DigiTimes, citing “sources from hard drive players.”

The Taiwan-based tech news site notes that drive supply had been tight since Q2 2009, but that in Q2 2010, Europe’s debt crisis has begun to affect PC demand, and PC makers have adjusted shipment forecasts lower. The piece contends that price declines were higher at capacities over 500 GB, with declined of about 20%, with 10% drops for 250 GB and 320 GB drives.

DigiTimes says Q3 shipments will be about flat versus Q2.
