Certificater of Live Birth is (in many states) the official name of what most people call a birth certificate.

In Florida where I was born, I have a "Certificate of Live Birth" which was made by the hospital where I was born, it is filed with the state. If I was to lose this then I could ask the state of Florida, to issue a "Birth Certificate" which is actually a new document stating that the "Certificate of Live Birth" is on file. I know this because years ago, when I was 21 and my brother wasn't, he had the idea he could use it for ID to get into a night club. It didn't work because it has no photo, but he did mess it up.
