Spanish fans are famous for racist taunting as well. Aerofagia, is this the fascist influence surviving to this day? I know my South Asian friend who is a singer and a flamenco fan had all sorts of problems when she went south to the flamenco heartland, but when we went to Barcelona together we had no problems at all, at least once the customs guy figured out how a brown woman from Canada could be living in London. He was quite bemused by the thought of brown-skinned Canadians.
Of course, Spanish fans are certainly not the only ones who do this disgusting taunting. It makes one happy to be living in Canada where you would never see this kind of thing. One of the greatest players in Canadian Football League history was Normie Kwong, aka The China Clipper, who played in the 1950s with nary a problem, and there have been head coaches of every extraction -- Afro-American, Hawaiian, Samoan, to name a few. And of course the former NFL 'rule' that 'blacks shall not play quarterback' sent all sorts of great athletes north, a perfect example being the first half of Warren Moon's career.
And we have plenty of gay athletes, male and female, who have been out for years, even decades, with no problems.
And being a member of any minority group is probably an advantage to a Canadian politician.
