Suspect an attack on Iran would result in sudden introduction of shoulder-fired anti aircraft missiles in Iraq and Afghanistan and result in a whole lot of unintended but very difficult consequences. Each time events heat up re Iran, a helicopter or two gets downed in Iraq-Afghanistan. IMO, no coincidences.

A gallon of diesel costs usd 70 by the time it makes way to forward base camp of empire in Afghanistan. That cost can be raised substantially and at little additional cost should the empire not play nice.

All very difficult, what with the asymmetrical n.Koreans around and just foiled Peruvian smuggling submarine possibilities and such.

Recommendation: let Iran be until the war in afghanistan is lost and Iraq is once more ruled by character such as Saddam. Iraq was a perfectly good and natural counter to Iran until someone screwed up.
