I agree, the power of the Internet to move stocks is HUGE.

I've seen it happen many times here on SI in the past two years, often unfortunately there is a scam behind the wilder moves. Anyone remember IDID or TLTK? up 10x in a few weeks without any reason other than hype or scam. And down just as quickly.

Tthe internet through its capability to reach millions of people in seconds is making a large change in the way stocks move, and information (or disinformation) that previously was in the hands of a priveleged few, now disseminates hundreds of times faster.

I nearly bought into Dawson a few months back, it was' recommended' on some emailed newssletter and though I had no faith in the company, I thought it would zoom just on the email alone.
Unless of course it was just me they were emailing?

Didnt buy it, but enough people did to move the price from 5 to 10 within about 3 days. There are plenty more examples like that. 10's thousands of people buying a small amount of stock in a short time have a huge influence on the price (or selling). Of course, many of these are 'flashes in the pan' and the rise (or fall) doesnt persist for long, but it happens all the same.
