My point, which I did not make clear, was there wasn't any US message to China with the new subs - that's Time Magazine's illusion, or more likely, response to a request from parts of US Government to try to divert Iran's attention.

I am surprised at how lame and uncoordinated this was. State (let's assume they were tasked with this) should have had several people in China coordinated to protest strongly the hegemonic destabilization etc. etc. followed by a fly by of PRC aircraft near a US aircraft carrier (note - who is making sure there's a carrier in range for the photo op ?) followed by "Asian markets opened down due to US China tensions".

This diversion wasn't very diverting.
