Employment needs to become our number 1 issue, because so many other problems would just disappear with an employed populous. How we get there may be controversial but the fight to get it done is worth it.

My list starts here:

1) Support for entrepreneurial ventures. New work which creates value and revenue and ultimately employment for the country comes from new business ideas and many of them need some start up support. (See: Bill Gates and Steve Jobs for a model)

2) Illegal employees and government paid employees should not be replacing American workers in jobs in the private sector of America ... No exceptions.

3) The government should not be paying to extend unemployment benefits once it is clear there is not employment available for these people in the near future. If that government money is available, use it to train these same people to do productive jobs that bring value to the country such as building infrastructure... like public bandwidth for transporting wind power to population centers. We need a nation wide network for massive wind power to ever be practical. You say they wont do these jobs? Well that's their choice not ours. Ours is to get work done and their's is to work for pay, or not get paid.
