My particular experiences are with trade unions such as for electricians, millwrights , pipefitters, etc. When I worked in the IBEW, after my years as a dishwasher and a busboy, I was instructed by others " why are you working so hard, you get paid the same no matter how hard you work." You dont have to be a genius to appreciate the negative dynamics set up by structures where you dont get feedback for your performance. Or perhaps you do from coworkers who are motivated to make jobs last longer, or make sure no one makes others look slow. Teachers unions if judged by the results of the students across the country are an abject failure.
