It is very difficult to compare something objectively, but I know that many people from here are afraid of the American health care system, when going to USA on holidays. They have heard so many stories about treatments not being done because the insurance didn't cover it, defensive medicine, and hospitals keeping patients around for profit, not for benefit of the patient.

If you look at the numbers, they tell you that the difference between two hospitals in USA are much bigger than the difference between a hospital in USA and a hospital in northwest Europe. If I had to choose between hospitals in USA, I would pick a hospital in the northeast instead of a hospital in the southwest, based on the data from Michael Porter.
