Bill, I worked as a scientist in R&D for a Fortune 500 company for over 30 years. Big old stodgy companies believe in cash cows, not progress. It's the little companies that make the breakthroughs and I KNOW that the foreskin of science isn't rolled back overnight. Enthusiasm and inexperience of the little guys gets them into trouble over-promising many times, but that's where the potential is for stock appreciation. It makes me laugh when someone starts comparing investor relation response time or any corporate anything between Placer and IPM. Want 10--20% a year, buy a big company. Want to speculate on a 10-20 bagger, buy a dirt. Sure there is risk, but smart investors limit risk by diversifying. The risk is already in the stock price for the dirt's. Sounds like you also need to learn how to trade. Get a discount broker, the cost is minimal.
