2010 British Grand Prix
Mark Webber takes the British Grand Prix starting with a fantastic start that allows him to take the lead on turn one from Vettel, who in the tussle gets a puncture, and ends up stopping to replace tires and re-starts dead last. Alonso makes a terrible start and loses two places to 5th. Webber, followed by Hamilton open a gap from the rest, Kubica holds third who holds up Roseberg and Alonso.
To make matters worse for Alonso, who later in the race is having a great battle with Kubica, at some point in an attempt to pass Kubica, they both push each other onto the grass, no more than a racing incident.... unfortunately the baby sitters at the race steward's office think otherwise, and hand Alonso a drive through penalty... AND telling him he cannot serve it until the safety car has come back in, having being deployed from a separate incident. Clearly this destroy Alonso's race; two in a row, thanks to the stewards.
Roseberg drives a brilliant race and earns a podium for his efforts and for Mercedes, out-shinning teammate Schumacher. Button who started 14th. drives a well managed race and finishes in 4th place, earning enough points to keep second position in the championship. Barrichello follows giving Williams new hope as the car begins to improve, Kobayashi in the Sauber finishes in sixth, he follows the great performance in Valencia, this time holding off Vettel, who finishes 7th after ending up in dead last after the first lap incident. Sutil captures 8th, followed by seven times world champion Schumacher in 9th and finally by Hulkenberg in the last points paying position.
It was an interesting race, however, the new format to the old Silverstone track leaves things to be desired, unfortunately, there is a substantial irregularity in the pavement that creates trouble for several cars, amongst them Roseberg, and de la Rosa who is forced to retire after losing important components of the aerodynamics of the car...
The half way mark in the championship has just been passed. there are nine races left, Hamilton and Button are first and second for McLaren starting to build up a lead. Both drivers aer driving well and conservatively, The Red Bull drivers are destroying each other with a little help from their respective team managers....
The incident in qualifying with the damaged nose on Vettel's car, taking a replacement from Mark Webber's car did not make Mark a happy man, on the contrary, it made Mark a determined man to go for the win. So determined that pushed Vettel off and caused Vettel's puncture... Which on its own, one wonders why was Alonso given a drive through penalty for basically the same sort of 'racing incident' ----one wonders----
coincidence, ineptitude, or... ?
anyway.... Unless Red Bull begins to manage the growing differences between Mark and Sebastien they will throw away a championship that otherwise it will be for them to win (at least one of them).... this is beginning to have strange similarities with McLaren the year that Kimi Raikkonen stole the championship from both Alonso and Hamilton.

The handing of penalties is becoming quite ridiculous, i do not remember so many penalties for no reason at all, and even when they are, they seem to be given in an unfair and uneven way. once again, more evidence that bureaucratic regulatory bodies seem to be taken over true competition and in general, the affairs of free men. Sports obviously will not be spared.
