I have one of the older IPhones, and I always found it annoying that the ringer kept getting switched off - unintentionally. Whenever you touch it the wrong way - the ringer would turn off, and I missed calls. I think it's clearly a design flaw. Eventually, the switch simply broke off. I turned on the ringer using a pocket knife - and it works happily ever after. Better than when the switch was intact.
