Then we are talking past one another, Steve. The political talk I see about "cutting spending" is aimed at reducing the public sector. That's what Christie wants to do in Jersey; it's what Reagan wanted to do; it's what GWB wanted to do; it's what the Rep Party in DC wants to do; the list is long. Everyone's in favor of cutting "inefficiencies" and "excesses." The only serious attempt I've ever seen to target these was in the Clinton/Gore efforts. They actually aimed right. But the stuff we hear now is about privatizing, which means increasing inequality. I'm not for that.
