Normally, I would agree with you on the comprehensive approach, i.e. stick some tax increases in the program. And I certainly favor raising taxes on the rich at the federal level. It's like Willie Sutton said about the banks...that's where the money is.

But I don't know about NJ. You guys are really heavily taxed already, esp. property taxes. I couldn't get back to the link, but in surfing this weekend I came across something stating that NJ is not attracting new business and that there has been something of an exodus by the more affluent in the state. Do you know anything about this?

That would be serious stuff and can't be ignored, I don't think. When something gets priced out of the market, people will eventually abandon it in favor of something else.

As a former Merrill Lynch employee, I remember back in the 90s when alot of financial firms's functions (like back office and training programs) left high-priced NY for less expensive NJ. I wonder if all that is just moving on down the coast...ha.

Tonight on the news at dinner, I heard that Texas was voted or selected as having the best climate for business.
