Newt speaks the truth about what has happened to America, and what we should do about it to change course. In the process of doing so, he is often labeled a firebrand. Personally, I don't hold that against him. Isn't that just what Palin does? And Christie? I'll grant that they both use a lot of self-deprecating humor, which does have a certain appeal.

His college course "Renewing American Civilization" which ran on cable back in the 90s was stunning in its clarity and brilliance.
