I have a deep distrust of surgery, mainly because of the venue which is a gathering place for every organism under the sun but also because surgeons can be arrogant, a trait for which I have a deep distrust.

At a garden club meeting I talked to a guy with what looked like a heavy plastic girdle completely around his lower torso. He was recovering from back surgery. Said his surgeon was one of only two in the country to do what he had done. They don't cut into muscle, they push it aside and do something with the discs.

It will be a while before I think about that.
