just back from shenzhen looking for lights

will go to qingdao next week to look for more lights

asked several shenzhen bosses about foxxconn and the story is, unanimously, as below:

- foxxconn pay scale was one of the best in shenzhen before the recent raises
- foxxconn has 400,000 workers in shenzhen, and 600,000 more in guandong province
- perhaps a dozen workers committed suicides this year
- the company had a singular policy of 400,000 rmb one-off compensation to family in case where worker lost life on the job, and 120,000 rmb per year for otherwise work life of killed worker

folks speculate that out of 1 mm staff, some would have committed suicides in any case, and the youngsters thinking such may be motivated to be "good to parents"

all expressed regret, but all put part blame on foxxconn for referenced policy.

let us watch n brief to see how events evolve going forward, and see whether remedial actions work.

however, just to note, the suicide rate in usa is around 10.9 suicide deaths per 100,000 people, and so we must conclude foxxconn enterprise is less deadly than usa.
