There is an article in todays Seattle Times picked up from AP
that demonstrates how the real story can be subdued.

Headline in 1/2 in bold type

CALIFORNIA UNIVERSITY PAID PALIN $75,00 FOR SPEECH

Sub headline says

VISIT DREW SCRUTINY

3rd header says

No explanation for sudden disclosure about her fee.

First paragraph.

A cash strapped California public university revealed Friday its foundation arm paid Sarah Palin $75,000 to give the headline speech at the 50th anniversary of the rural campus.

Closing paragraph.

The university, like many public colleges has had to cut classes and cancel scholarships as a result of financial woes.

Buried in the test is the following paragraph.

Campus officials proclaimed the event was the most successful fundraiser in the school history, saying it raised more than $207,000 for scholarships.

NOW YOU KNOW THE REAL STORY
