And it goes towards enriching the upper class and a ton of it goes into savings rather than to productive use. And you really think the "free market" is so good at dictating where the money goes? In our era of consolidation, the huge companies actually lower their rates of spending on R&D (see GE, IBM, Motorola) and concentrate on killing competition.

The market is not magic.

Also, the consolidation of wealth is jarring. The top 1% in this country possess 34% of its wealth and the bottom 50% possess 2.5%.

If it's going to directly put people to work, I'm OK with it. Granted, there are better things to have them work on and worse things, but in general, getting people back in the work force is a great thing.
