Art, Did Pierce Arrow come up with new types of cars that basically built new industries? Apple came up with the iPod. Not a new invention, but they built an existing device well enough, and backed it up with infrastructure, and created a huge business. iPhone - They have basically defined what a smartphone is, and built a huge business around it. iPad - again, they have defined what tablets are, and are already hugely successful at it. Do you get the feeling that Apple folks are sitting around saying 'sooner or later, they'll buy an Apple'? I don't. Your comparison seems awfully simplistic.
