Dude, George freakin' Wallace was a Democrat. Lester Maddox was a Democrat. Strom Thurmond was a Democrat until 1964.

There were loads of racist southern democrats during the height of the segregation protests, the South was solidly Dem (due to blaming the Civil War on Lincoln) with a few splinter parties (like when Wallace ran as a third party candidate for Pres in 1968). When Nixon came in that changed due to a focused southern strategy, and he solidified it in 1972 when he landslided/Watergated McGovern. How many Democratic racists do you need, there were/are literally millions of them.
