I dont know which of my statements is sending me to the guillotine but the interesting aspect to me is the "why didn't they eat millet, cassava, and potatoes?" This is exactly how the US government computes CPI. When the price of wheat or rice goes up, CPI assumes the consumer will switch to potatoes. Do you believe the government?
