First, modem revenue is only a small portion of COMS's revenue, so it alone is not a major problem.

About your opinion on modem technology (not COMS). K56 will be successful. It will remains the best choice for those who want internet but don't want to pay for xDSL. Modem aggregation will be one solution (NT 4.0 and Win98 has built-in support), other 3rd party manufacturer like Diamond has dedicate h/w aggregation solution. Analog line has reached full capacity, actually modem desginer already did a great job because base on Shannon theory, typical voice channel top at around 31kbps for symmetry digital transmission!

After 56k modem, the next answer is probably CDSL (Rockwell) like technology because it is simply, cheap and fast and most important, it is feasible!
