You seem to assume sudden and severe illness - in which case you are more likely to be correct. However, most people get sick slowly and gradually, like in developing slightly elevated blood pressure, or borderline Diabetes, etc. Even with sudden severe illness, in the US, in most cases people will get very decent care.

Much about healthcare is "territorial". If I were to get sick, I'd prefer this to happen in the US. I'm sure that a Frenchman would prefer to be in France - and he would be right.
