This is what happens when you get an idiot commenting on something he knows nothing about.

While cms technically has only a few thousand employees, it is because the operations of Medicare are subcontracted to regional intermediaries who employ the thousands of required bureaucrats. And Medicaid is managed by thousands more.

The 5000 cms employees are whist it takes to cut monthly checks to 50 states and a dozen or so fiscal intermediaries.
