I know 'nukes' get a mixed review on this thread, but a very informative guest article on the potential for modular nukes was recently posted on TOD .. Be sure to read the comments by 'atomicrod' below the article .. theoildrum.com The idea is to leverage the Navy's 50+ years of operational experience with small scale reactors for the commercial sector .. I'm very much in favor of this approach for both small and large scale ie( multiple units on a single site ) deployments especially as a baseload solution as older coal plants are phased out ..
