I keep reading on here about the X2 56K modem not connecting above 33.6.

I have a X2 56K and connect everynight on to my ISP at either 50.6K or 52K. Which I consider to be very good and worth the the cost to upgrade from 33.6 to 56K. Most important is it makes a difference when surfing.

If you can't connect higher than 33.6 and you have a 56K modem, then it is a problem with your phone company or ISP, not the modem maker.

In the long run the 56K modem is just a patch until the phone companies and the cable companies either merge or fight it out. Seeing that Microsoft is buying into the cable companies would be a good sign that the cable companies will be the long term winner.

There is nothing wrong with the X2 56K modem.

Also, maybe the channels are full before Christmas. If I did not already have a 56K modem I would want one for Christmas. Wouldn't you??
