My sister works for the state of Texas at much less than she could in the private sector. she has standard vacation things. she does at least have a retirement package, while it is not all that generous, it is there, unlike most private work now which I reckon just figures you will do by on SS, cause you don't make enough to invest.

who are these people who think this way? do they really all make like hundreds of thousands a year? or invested in Microsoft back when?

have they worked in the public sector, or they just like to talk about it a lot? I say fire all the firemen and let their houses burn down. fakemall.
