Well maybe I've been unlucky but the couple I had spewing vapour out really turned me off of them.. That's after living with the idiosyncrasy of time to maximum brightness ... Terrible in a powder room.. By the time they are bright enough you are done.. so add an extra light... and then it's too bright after a few minutes.. I'm pretty happy with the halogens although they are not as energy saving as the spirals.. they have been problem free so far... Spirals are not very good as outdoor spotlights either ... Got a bunch of free ones.. but frankly the latency before full bright (and it's worse in winter) makes them ineffective for that purpose.. Not saying I like incandescents as those suckers just do not last comparatively.. Looks like LED is a better outdoor alternative.. and maybe indoor soon also.. Just the spirals I have issue with..

kinda like the problem of low flush toilettes requiring that extra flush (extra bulbs) :O) BTW all of our toilettes are low flush and I went through a few before finding ones that worked 'first flush' most of the time :O)
