dougn: >>56K connection<< I used to have MCI as my internet service provider and even though they provide 2X service I could only connect at 28800 with my USRX 56K modem. The reason for the low speed apparently was that the MCI server was behind a long distance switch.

Last week, I got in the mail a 19.95 (first month free) flat rate offer from Bell Atlantic (the local phone company), and guess what? I now get 52000K. Is costing me $2 more per month as the MCI service was through a especial offer with Fidelity but it is worth extra 2 bucks! My suggestion, try a different provider, preferably a local one [preferably the local phone company] and you should see an improvement.
