Greg,

Maybe my post was a little confusing. I agree I don't see either announcement directly affecting IOMG. My post asked for clarification about the Exabyte announcement. Exabyte is a tape company, so I couldn't see what was up with the Apple thing. Once I read it was for servers I understood the Apple connection. Exabyte is after a different, more high end target than Iomega is with its Ditto Tape Backup system so they don't compete at this time. The Pinnacle announcement is also more of (IMHO) an archival/backup solution. They even state as much in their release by comparing the CDR to a tape system, that's why I mentioned Ditto.

So, no I wouldn't compare a tape system to Zip or Jaz. I would compare one to Ditto, and I would classify Pinnacle's product as nothing but sexy backup.
