True enough. Simmons has done a service by alerting all to the fact that peak oil will come - at a debatable point in time. Many say that it is already in the rearview. There are good arguments for that, primarily the super high prices bringing on little extra supply.

Quite true what you say about being able to go public once removed from "in career" constraints. Eisenhower warned of the military industrial complex on his way out - or perhaps within a year of leaving the Presidency. Took some scrods.
