Karl, we think alike! this is precisely why I was considering shorting spiders. However, my conclusion was that you can always find a stock (or set of stocks for diversification that is gonna beat the S&P in overprice by 100 miles!). Have to be careful, avoid momumtum stocks in their way up, avoid stocks with good fundamentals, never put more than 3-4% of your $$ on a short so that you do not have to chiken out and cover if it goes up. Believe me if you had the guts to short it you have about an 80% chance of being right but you have to be patient.
