Yup. I've been reading SI for a decade and a half. Over the years, many of the posters I consider to be among the sharpest have expressed a certain feeling of being an outcast. Many described scenes of speaking with 3-D people about the possible collapse of the I-nets (or rise in Gold...or crash of real estate....or danger in unlimited Govt. spending....or the Debt overhang.....or...) and those 3-D people stared at them like they had a turd hanging out of the side of their mouth or a second head.

I hated when John Mauldin started propagating the theory eight or so years ago that the US economy might muddle through - the "Muddle Through Economy" he called it. I wanted decisive resolution, even if it was a crash. I think it was Buffet who said, "Clarity is great, but you pay a LOT for clarity."

And despite the doom saying, here we are. Things aren't great but the US is still a long way from being a 3rd world country.

A healthy dose of caution? Yes.

An active survey of what's going on and what might happen good or bad? Sure.

Hide in a bunker and spend everything on non-perishables and ammo? Probably not so much. At least not as a core investment/planning thesis.

There, I probably marked the turn. Monday we melt! <G>

p.s. None of this is meant as condemnation of the thread. No one forces any of us to log on. SI is what it is. As they say in AA, "Take what you like and leave the rest."
