I just saw a study on medical costs that strongly suggested most of the the difference between US costs and the costs elsewhere in the world can be attributed to the difference in hospital costs.

I have never looked at the breakdown of hospital costs, but I doubt rents, real estate taxes etc.. are the culprit.

I assume some of it is the advanced technology used in our care (and or abused) and SALARIES. Of course we know that higher salaries do tend to attract the brightest people.
