Bearded One: I agree with Tekgk and others that we have yet to confirm a bear market. That does not mean we are not in one now--at least from my point of view. I posted enough about my beliefs on the Kahuna thread, since September 1997, so I will not bore anyone with it here.

Your thread is about investing in bear markets. I deal simply with stocks and their derivatives and my plans are to trade (speculate) in the bear market once I get my confirmation. However, the name of your thread reminded me that I will not simply trade the market--I will be buying for the long term.

If someone wants to invest in stocks during a true bear market, there will be many opportunities. There will be opportunities to do some real bottom-fishing. Just as bull markets end, so do bear markets end. However, the greatest thing to overcome in a bear market will be our own doubts that it will ever end. At that point, we will have one of the greatest opportunities to invest in common stocks in the U. S.
