I think that I have found a way to compromise on the Ground Zero Mosque.

Imam Faisal says that the mosque/cultural center is meant to reach out to others and to bridge the gap between the muslims and the western world.

We should grant Imam Faisal the permits to start building the mosque after he goes to Saudi Arabia and successfully lobbies to have a christian church and jewish temple built a couple of blocks from Mecca. Now that would truly start bridging the gaps between the cultures.

When he is ready to build bridges, we should be willing to let him build bridges. But so far this is simply the muslims using our sense of fairness against us.
