Jim, I am not sidestepping the issue of repealing the Second Amendment. From everything I have read there is significant support in America for handgun regulation, and it would be interesting to see what voters want to do. I suspect that depending upon the state, there is actually a wide variance on public opinion, as well.

My point about the Supreme Court and the Second Amendment is that to me it is logical before we talk about repealing anything, to determine whether there is a body of current legal opinion in favor of the interpretation that the amendment gives INDIVIDUALS the right to bear arms. If there is no such body of opinion, then the amendment could be viewed as an historical anachronism, like the Third Amendment, and no repeal movement would be necessary.

Why try to repeal an amendment which does not give you the right to bear arms as an individual, if that is what the debate is about? I think it would be premature, that's all.
