Steve - You need to speak with Paul Wick of the Seligman Communications fund!! This week's lead article in Barron's is about the wreckage in the technology stocks. The magazine inteviewed Wick, Chip Morris of T. Rowe Price (Science and Technology Fund), and John Force of PBHG. Wick in particular panned the PC stocks, he stated that he thinks Compaq in particular is making NO money at all on the low priced PC. He goes on to say that he thinks CPQ is NOT allocating costs properly, that they allocated overhead based on dollars instead of units (ie, more dollars allocated to higher priced units). He also went on to say that 'strangely enough' Dell's ASP has not been affected at all, but does not talk about Dell more specifically than that. Needless to say he stated that he has sold CPQ out of his fund. For subscribers, the link is:

John

They also talked about the ERP stocks (must be near and dear to your heart!!!) like Baan and SAP - their take was that they should be selling at PE's around 30-35 instead of 60...
