Famous charlatans

John R. Brinkley, the "goat-gland doctor" who implanted goat glands as a means of curing male impotence, helped pioneer both American and Mexican radio broadcasting, and twice ran unsuccessfully for governor of Kansas.

Albert Abrams, the advocate of radionics and other similar electrical quackery who was active in the early twentieth century.

Italian Alessandro Cagliostro (real name Giuseppe Balsamo) who claimed to be a count.
The mystical Count of St. Germain.

Charles Ponzi invented the "Ponzi scheme," a scam that relies on a "pyramid" of "investors" who contribute money to a fraudulent programme.

Dr R Steven Davidson invented Zicam. Proclaimed to have a Ph.D and a MBA from the American University of Asturius (Spain). Turned out Davidson only had a High School Degree and Asturius alas was a diploma mill. One big scam By Davidson. Once Davidson pretended to have a Ph.D from Columbia University. Great character as well as his co-inventor Charles Hensly who recieved yet another FDA warning letter for bogus bird flu cure. Hensley even encouraged via a press release for people to stockpile his Vira38 before the pending pademic.

Ponzi schemer Bernie Madoff
