I heard that somebody went in and stayed with them. But the latest is a rescue squad went in and there are survivors.

That being the case, he's likely among the dead. They have people on the ground and know who made it and who didn't. If he survived, they'd have put the word out that "Former Senator Ted Stevens Survives Alaska Plane Crash."
